Hospitals and healthcare
Know where the equipment is, and when it's due for service
Hospital asset management: track medical equipment by ward, plan maintenance, get warranty alerts and verify equipment with scheduled counts.
An asset tag as it could look for this sector. Illustrative.
The problem
Hospitals depend on equipment that moves: infusion pumps, monitors, wheelchairs and portable devices travel between wards, theatres and stores. When one is needed, finding it is a walk, and when one is due for service, nobody may know.
Servicing and warranties are often tracked on separate lists. Equipment is serviced late or not at all, warranties lapse, and a donor-funded device is hard to trace.
How VexCloud AMS helps
Locations down to the ward
A hierarchy from facility to department, ward and room, so any asset has a place you can name.
Fixed asset register
Service plans and work orders
Plans by date or meter reading open work orders ahead of time, with parts, costs and downtime recorded.
Maintenance and warranty
Warranty alerts
Be told at 90, 60 and 30 days before a warranty ends, and at the end, so claims are made while they still count.
Maintenance and warranty
Regular verification
Count a ward or department and see what is missing or in another ward, with every correction logged.
Physical asset audits
Rules that tell the right person
Notify biomedical engineering when equipment is reported missing, transferred or due.
Automation and alerts
Scenario, not a client
A scenario: a ward round of the equipment
Imagine a county hospital with about six hundred items of medical and general equipment across eight wards. The biomedical engineer sets a service plan for the monitors, every six months, and the pumps, by hours of use.
Each month the system opens the work orders that are due. A monitor is taken out of service for the repair and returned automatically when the work order closes. A warranty alert for the theatre lights arrives forty days early, which is long enough to get the supplier to inspect them.
This is an illustration of how the product is used. It describes no real organization.
The tags are half of it
Equipment that is cleaned and moved needs a tag that stands up to both. Vexar Solutions makes tamper-evident and aluminium tags for medical devices and IT.
FAQ
Questions from this sector
Does VexCloud AMS replace a clinical engineering system?
It covers the asset register, service plans, work orders, warranties and verification. It does not manage clinical data or patient records, and is not a hospital management system.
Can maintenance be scheduled by hours of use?
Yes, from meter readings recorded on the asset, or by calendar, or whichever comes first.
Can we cover several facilities?
Yes. Use one company per facility, or one company with facilities as locations, depending on how you report.
Can staff report a problem from a phone?
The Android app finds and views assets and counts audits. Work orders are opened on the web.
